Aan het water, op de linkeroever van de Dordogne, tussen Sarlat in de Périgord Noir en Rocamadour in de Quercy, niet ver van Lascaux en Padirac, heet de gemeentelijke camping _Le Bourniou_ u van harte welkom in Saint-Julien-de-Lampon. 160 ruime en schaduwrijke kampeerplaatsen...

Voorzieningen, vrije tijd en animatie

A descent in canoe is anotherway to discover the cool river. Don't forget this absolutely charming trip. In a wild surrondings, all secrets of the river are at your hand. Beginners are welcome. The base is under the bridge, where you can rent a bicycle too and cycling on the special track to Sarlat or Souillac.

For fishing you need a licence. You can buy a holiday licence which is available in the village.

Early in the morning, the sportsmen are already active in the open air !

The campsite organizes some hikings. But you can prefer walking or riding by your own. Many pathways through fields and meadows are marked. Ask for kiking or riding cards at the Turist Information of our area.

The cycle track is passing c.a. 100 meters.

Built instead of the ancient railway, the track sometimes goes along the river, sometimes hides between the walls of the rock. Shady and easy, it leads you to Sarlat or near Souillac, riding, hiking or with your... skate board.

On the spot, all kind of family activities and relaxation are possible.

The 'farniente' at the beach is one of the most appreciate activity!

Under the supervision of the parents, children can also meet each other at the play grounds. They cycle around in the large ways of the camping, they play ping-pong or volley-ball with older ones... All 'usual' activities are available : soccer, bowls, tennis or riding at the village...

A drink called 'Pot du Campeur' is organised every week for those who want to meet, to talk, to exchange latest gossip... in all languages ! At the snack-bar, come and share good moments with other people : there are some activities and some evening-parties...

Beschrijving van de regio

St-Julien de Lampon is situated at the South-East of "Black Perigord" and in the center of a region of innumerable sightseeing possibilities.

Discover the remnants of History, venture back to the sources of Pre-history, admire the still intact Architecture of houses and monuments and follow the traces of the past... Within a radius of 50 km, you can satisfy all your curiosities.

Directly in the village, the church dating from 14/ 15 centuries, was later rebuilt in the form of a latin cross. 16th century frescoes decorate the vaults of the chorus and the chapels to the North and to the South. Every art lover will be surprised by the high quality of these paintings. The present bell-tower was probably built from the remnants of the original building. Machicolations remind of its use as a defensive tower.

During a walk around St-Julien de Lampon, you will meet the ruins of Castle Tourette (privately owned). Within a distance of 5 km to East you can visit the small Chapel of Mareuil and its cemetary...

After 3 km on the left bank Castle Fénelon overhangs the village Sainte-Mondane. It is the birth place of Fénelon, the famous author of Télémaque.

Open for visits all year round.

Cross over the river:

Within 3 km, the Jardins de Cadiot at Carlux are full of charm and poetry. Don't miss to visit the garden during the roses season. In the wood, an exhibition of African stone sculptures of Zimbabwee gives a strange atmosphere. Gardens open from May 1st until October 30th.

Further but easily accessible:

At a distance of 14 km, on the way to Gourdon (Lot) are the wonderful Caves of Cougnac. You can see in this cave, authentic prehistoric drawings and thousand crystallizations. Open from Easter to All Saints Day.

At 15 km, the Jardins d'Eyrignac in the vicinity of Salignac are very buzy formal gardens.

One of the most famous place of interest await you in Sarlat (15 km). All the center of the town is listed Historic buildings of France and you will discover 16th century houses with stones roofs...

From Padirac to Lascaux II near Montignac, passing through Les Eyzies, there are all famous places for the many remnants of the Cro-Magnon period.

Follow with the dry stone huts of Breuil, the Bastide Domme with its famous city walls and gates, the village of La Roque Gageac where you can have a river crossing on a 'gabarre'...

Do you feel a meddle age humour ? Go and visit the 1000 Castels of Perigord:

Beynac, Castelnaud, Commarque, Puymartin, Losse and Milandes...

Is it necessary to present you Rocamadour (45 km) in the Lot area ? It is the 2nd most visited place in France. Built into the rock...

By the way, don't miss the authentic Moulin Of Cougnaguet.

Also in the Lot area, you can visit these interesting places : Gouffre de Padirac, caves Lacave, the 7 towers town of Martel, the small village of the 'Riviere Esperance' Carennac... And closer, Souillac with the basilic facing the Museum of Automatons, the top of the old center of Gourdon...

Really, St-Julien de Lampon is the best place to go travelling in the region, perhaps discovering hundreds of other sightseeings... and coming back to take a rest in peaceful landscapes.

Arrival by the road:

From Souillac:

-National Road D820 or Exit number 55 of Motorway A20

-In Souillac, follow the direction 'Sarlat' by D 703 and drive about 12 km : passing the villages of Cazoulès, Peyrillac et Millac, Limejouls…

Near Carlux, at the Local name Rouffillac, cross the bridge over the river dordogne by turning left and after 100 meters...

From Sarlat:

-At the southern exit of Sarlat, follow the direction 'Cahors' then 'Souillac' (not the direction Gourdon), D703.

After the sign of Calviac-en-Périgord, you will reach Rouffillac (local name, Rouffillac belongs to Carlux). Cross the bridge over the Dordogne river to the right and afeter 100 meters...

Arrival by railway :

Souillac station:

-Railway Paris – Toulouse. Get off at the town of Souillac, shortly after the stop 'Brive'.

-Arriving from Toulouse : leave the train at Souillac, shrotly after the stop 'Gourdon'.

A shuttle-bus service exists between Souillac and Sarlat: get off at the stop Rouffillac. Cross the bridge, on foot ca. 100 m.

Sarlat station:

-By train from Périgueux direction Bordeaux. Attention : Get off in Sarlat
